Chocolate chip cookie originated in the United States and features chocolate chips (small morsels of sweetened chocolate) as its distinguishing ingredient. The traditional recipe combines a dough composed of butter and both brown and white sugar, semi-sweet chocolate chips and vanilla. Variations include recipes with other types of chocolate as well as additional ingredients such as nuts or oatmeal.

Chocolate chip cookies

Ingredients:

1 cup (226 grams) unsalted butter, room temperature

3/4 cup (150 grams) granulated white sugar

3/4 cup (160 grams) firmly packed light brown sugar

2 large eggs

1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 1/4 cup (295 grams) All purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 cup (270 grams) semi sweet chocolate chips

Method

1-Preheat oven at 375 F (190 C). Line two baking sheets with parchment sheets.

2-In the bowl of your electric mixer or hand mixer beat the butter until smooth and creamy. Add white and brown sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs (one at a time). Add vanilla and beat until incorporated. Scrape down the mixture from the sides of the bowl as needed.

3- In a separate bowl mix the dry ingredients ( flour, baking soda, salt).

4-Add dry ingredients into egg mixture and beat well.

5- Add chocolate chips and fold into the mixture.

6- Cover and refrigerate for couple of hours.

7- For large cookies use two tablespoons of dough (35 grams) on the baking sheet.

8- For regular size cookies use 1 tablespoon of dough.

9- Bake about 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown the edges.

10- Cool completely on wire rack.

Make about 4 dozens 3 inches round cookies.
